Season 2015/16

SUMMER SEASON

The 2015/16 season kicked off in October 2015 and ended in March 2016. An average of 97 athletes participated each week. A total of 2148 personal best performances were achieved and 11 centre records broken. The centre took part in its annual meet with Rockingham and hosted the Coastal Cup. Centre events included the Reynolds/Wakeham Challenge and the centre championships saw 102 athletes take part in a fun-filled day.

LAWA events:

State Multi-Events :        HBF Stadium

Three athletes participated in four events each held over two days.

Zones :        Hosted by Armadale Little Athletics

Around 30 athletes took part in the Zone competition, a total of 4 bronze, 2 silver and 2 gold medals were won by athletes in the U7-U17 age groups, a very fine effort indeed. Older athletes who placed in the top 6 in the finals progressed to the state finals. Athletes in the U16-17 age group progressed automatically to the state finals.

State Track and Field Finals : HBF Stadium, Mt. Claremont

The Centre was proudly represented at the state finals by Finley Murray, Macenzie Berglund, Sonya Beaman, Matthew Beaman, Raighne Brooks, Isaac Da Silva, and Calvin Singh. Calvin won silver in the U16 100m. Matthew and Isaac won bronze medals in the Shot Put and 800m and qualified to be part of the U14/15 WA international team and traveled to Singapore in July 2016.

The summer season ended with a wind-up and trophy presentation.

WINTER SEASON

We began the Winter Season with 32 registered athletes. As the season progressed, a solid 15 to 23 athletes continued to compete—a good attendance for a small centre.

The parents of those participating were a great help in setting up and packing away. It was wonderful to see that our athletes had such good parental support.

A big thank you also goes to Michael Hodges who assisted with coaching during the season.

Well done to all the children that came to training night after night, ran up hills in the rain, through the bush and kept going. I am proud of you all.

Overall, it was the best cross-country season we have had as a centre for years.

Terry Hargreaves – Winter Officer

Harry Maude earned 3rd place in U11 State Walking Championships

Xavier Allen completed the U7 cross country run in 3rd place
