What age group does Little Athletics cater for?

Boys and girls between the age of 5 and 17 as of October 1st can register.

What do the athletes do?

Athletes participate in a series of track and field events such as running (60m hurdles, 70m, 80m, 100m, 200m hurdles, 200m, 300m hurdles, 400m, 800m, 1500m), jumping (long, triple, high) and throwing (shot, discus, javelin) depending on their age.

How long is the season?

Little athletics is a year round sport. The track and field event program is run from September to March. A winter competition consisting of cross-country and road walking is conducted from May to August.  

When and where do the athletes participate?

During the summer season, athletes compete in track and field events at their local centre. The length of the program for and events for any given competition day vary from centre to centre.

How does the family get involved?

Little athletics is very committed to family involvement. Parents can be involved in coaching athletes at a local club, running a club or centre, assisting as a competition official and just about anything else you can think of.

What competitions can athletes compete in?

Besides the regular centre competition, Little Athletics of Western Australia run the Bravehearts Challenge (U6 – U10),  Multi Event Championships (U11-U17), State Track and Field Relay Championship (U/8 – U/17), Zone Track and Field Championship (Heats and Quarter finals for State U/7 – U/15) and State Track and Field Championships (U/9 – U/17).
